CUMBRIA: Bassenthwaite OSPREYS

Got up to the view point this morning, and was rewarded with excellent views of both birds on the nest, then flying off to the lake, where the male initially looked like he was hunting, but actually spent a lot of time diving into the water, but then just bathing.

Later in the day, around 5.00, we were south of Whinlatter Pass, high on the fells, and saw another Osprey come in from the Braithwaite direction, fly pretty much up the pass, then head off north over Whinlatter/Seat How. Definitely not one of the Bassenthwaite pair, as this bird was distinctive in having a couple of primaries missing from the left wingtip (per Steve Sheehan)
